Developing competent, safety-driven metering professionals
NAMSAC, which stands for National Metering & Safety Competency Programme, is a practical, industry-focused training and certification programme designed to build skilled, safety-conscious electricity meter installers and technicians for Nigeria's power sector. The programme is structured to improve installation quality, reduce safety incidents, and raise professional standards across metering and electrical field operations.
The core focus areas of NAMSAC include electricity meter installation (both prepaid and smart meters), electrical safety and HSE practices, fieldwork best practices, regulatory and compliance standards, as well as customer interaction and professional conduct. These areas ensure that participants are technically competent, safety-driven, and professionally equipped to operate effectively in real-world environments.
The programme runs for two weeks, starting March 2, 2026, integrating technical instruction, safety training, and supervised field attachment, enabling participants to gain practical, real-world experience.
NAMSAC is designed for meter installers, electricians, technicians, engineering students and graduates, as well as Regulatory bodies, DisCos, MAPs, and MSPs field staff.
The programme is particularly important in addressing key challenges within Nigeria's power sector, such as poor installation quality, revenue loss, frequent safety incidents, meter damage and bypass, and inconsistent workmanship.
Both prepaid and smart meter installation techniques and best practices.
